Soon, our clients will have access to a powerful new dashboard feature. Pipelines!

Pipelines give you a clear overview of the outstanding workload within your business.

What are Job Pipelines?

A pipeline is a series of stages which a job must go through to become complete.

For example:

The stages for an asbestos survey pipeline might be:

  1. Site Work
  2. Lab Results
  3. Floor-plans
  4. Quality Control

You may have several pipelines, depending on the type of work you are doing; one for asbestos surveys, another for fire risk assessments, and so on.

How you manage these pipelines is up to you and will depend on your business processes. Pipelines are very flexible, so you have the control seat.

Pipelines for Small Companies

Freelancers and small companies often have multi-skilled and multi-trained employees.

You'll wear several ā€œhatsā€ in your business. You'll be a surveyor, lab technician, and a floor-plan designer rolled into one.

Pipelines are well-suited to this type of multi-tasking. You can focus on tasks appropriate to you at the time. You'll work your way through each stage as required.

Pipelines for Large Companies

Large companies often work in different ways to small companies.

Employees tend to have more specialist roles, to improve efficiencies.
We wrote an article explaining why dividing your labour in large companies increases your profits...

You may have a dedicated floor plan team, a dedicated lab team, and so on. Each step of your pipeline will be the responsibility of a different team or person.

So, if you're a lab technician, you'll use the pipeline to identify jobs with missing lab results and work your way through those jobs.

Conclusion

Pipelines are a new feature that will help you manage your workload. You'll have a clearer view of where your jobs are, so you can focus on completing survey reports quickly.
