Senior asbestos surveyor, Chris Carradice talks about his experience using Flow Mobile Surveying.
Adams Environmental was a leading provider of environmental consulting and training services. Their success led to them subsequently being acquired by Environmental Essentials.
When the senior management team approached us, they faced a common industry challenge: spending too much time manually writing reports and inputting survey data.
Their goal was to create survey reports to meet the specific needs of each client and project. They wanted an app to quickly collect survey data on-site, reduce manual data entry, provide real-time insights, and create professional, customisable reports.
Staff were spending a significant amount of time inputting data using MS Access and creating reports manually in Microsoft Word. They had used the same process to create reports for years.
The Adams Environmental team was happy with how the reports looked, but creating reports in Microsoft Word was a time-consuming and error-prone process that often led to delays in issuing reports.
Some younger directors in the business realised this process was holding them back in the competitive surveying industry. They wanted a more efficient way to write reports to complete projects faster and with greater accuracy.
Adams Environmental were clear on one thing from the start. They loved their report format and didn't want to change it.
Adams Environmental's clients often complimented them on the quality of their reports, so this was something they wanted to maintain as they moved to a digital reporting software.
They were worried that digitising their reporting would lead to a generic-looking report, and they would lose the look and feel of their reports.
The Adams Environmental team initially asked their asbestos surveying team to trial Flow Mobile Surveying. Director Alex Painter was impressed by the immediate change this had on how much time they could spend on site, since less time was needed in the office to write reports.
"After implementing Flow, we considered downsizing from our large expensive office, since everyone was spending most of their time on-site rather than in the office writing reports manually"
Alex told us that this was a big culture shift in the business and he realised the new problem was maintaining the same culture now that everyone was out and about more.
After a successful trial with the asbestos surveying team the app was rolled out to asbestos analysts, helping them to complete Four Stage Clearances and Daily Air Test reports.
Just one year after switching from Microsoft Word to Flow Mobile Surveying, Adams Environmental's growth made them an attractive target for acquisitition.
They were soon acquired by market leader, Environmental Essentials. Well done, Adams Environmental team!
"I couldn't calculate how much Flow has saved our company" said director, Alex Painter.
